Continuation of the EFBOE competition
We are pleased to announce our next competition for the period from 01 November 2022 to 31 October 2023. This affords advisors a renewed chance to compete for one of the winning prizes.
Our motivation behind the competition remains the same as before: To reward those advisors who continue to support EFBOE directly and who actively market our products and services to their clients.
The cash prizes for the competition are as follows:
- 1st prize: R7000
- 2nd prize: R3000
The competition criteria remain the same as before:
- 20%: Number of existing clients with EFBOE who have Wills in safekeeping on 31 October 2022 (this is a fixed starting point);
- 60%: Number of new clients with EFBOE who have Wills in safekeeping between 01 November 2022 and 31 October 2023; and
- 20%: Points collected for power of attorney estates (“buite boedels”) referred to and administered by EFBOE during the competition period. Points for power of attorney estates are based on one point for each R10 000 of executor fees earned during the competition period.
The names of the competition front runners will be announced in the Let’s Talk EFBOE newsletter from time to time. The newsletter will be the only source of information on the competition, so please make sure to keep reading!
EFBOE’s offices will close for the festive season at 12h00 on Thursday, 15 December 2022 and will re-open at 08h00 on Wednesday, 04 January 2023.
Return signed Wills timeously for safekeeping
The festive season is fast approaching. The weeks that lie ahead present an excellent opportunity to ensure that your clients’ Wills are up to date in preparation for the holiday season.
During 2022, various surveys have been conducted to determine how many people in South Africa have Wills. According to the Master of the High Court and research conducted by Sanlam, less than 15% of South Africa’s working class has Wills in place. Other studies have also been conducted and vary somewhat in their findings because of different demographics, however, all of the research concurs that we are dealing with a shockingly low figure.
We remind you that a Will is a useful introductory tool to secure an appointment with a client. A Will not only markets other important services, but it also illustrates the importance of a well-prepared estate plan.

- Please return all signed Wills well in advance before our offices close for the festive season. This will ensure that our admin can be finalised before closing.
- Similarly, please submit your new and amended Will applications as soon as possible. We will not be able to process last-minute applications before our offices close on 15 December 2022. Last-minute applications will thus be processed only when our offices re-open in January 2023.
To avoid disappointment, please ensure that you submit signed Wills and applications a week before the closure of our offices. We would like to kick off the new year on a high note and would appreciate your co-operation in this regard!

We are always in such a rush to get to our destination that we sometime lose sight of the fact that the journey is also part of the vacation experience.
A great many people spend a significant time on planning the transfer of their financial wealth. But life is not just about passing on a financial legacy. It is about so much more than that. A legacy extends to establishing a family identity and values that will guide the next generations. Without this guidance, the next generations may be found wanting. We hope that this festive season affords you the opportunity to spend quality time with your loved ones while establishing a lasting legacy.
